Rep. Kevin Mullin (D-CA) seeks an organized, proactive Scheduler to serve in his Washington, DC office. The Scheduler will work closely with the Chief of Staff and District Director to coordinate the Member’s short-term and long-term official schedule in both DC and the district. The Scheduler will act as the Member’s liaison with other Congressional offices, constituents, and stakeholders from the public, private, and non-profit sectors.
The ideal candidates will possess strong communication skills, granular attention to detail, the utmost discretion in dealing with sensitive information, excellent stakeholder engagement skills, and the ability to execute multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment in a highly collegial and professional manner. Candidates should also have flexibility to respond to urgent scheduling needs on occasional nights and weekends.
Responsibilities include working with senior staff to manage the D.C. front office and maintain the Member’s daily and long-term schedule, tracking and evaluating all invitations and scheduling requests with senior staff, proactively building the Congressman’s schedule around his priorities, tracking and managing the Congressman’s personal correspondence, compiling the Congressman’s nightly briefing materials, coordinating internal and external events, making reservations for the Congressman’s air travel, ground transportation, and lodging, managing the expense reimbursement and submission process,assisting with onboarding and training for staff and interns, and other duties as assigned, potentially including driving the Congressman as needed.
Desired Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience;
- Prior Capitol Hill and/or administrative experience is preferred;
- Experience handling sensitive information or records and maintaining confidentiality;
- Sense of humor and creative and positive attitude;
- Strong team mindset and ability to work collaboratively, not in a silo;
- Self-directed and takes initiative with minimal supervision;
- Politically savvy;
- Embraces ambiguity and charts multiple options for what is possible;
- Ability to build and maintain relationships;
- Ability to troubleshoot, problem solve, anticipate, and mitigate issues for the Congressman and staff;
- Ability to work well with colleagues in different time zones;
- Knowledge of CA-15 and its cities, San Mateo County, San Francisco City & County, and the various public policy issues that shape the greater Bay Area a plus;
- Proficiency in Microsoft office suite.
Salary is commensurate with experience.
