Washington, D.C. – U.S. Rep. Kevin Mullin (CA-15) has invited Julie Lind, a fourth-generation labor leader and community advocate, to join him as his guest for President Biden’s State of the Union Address on Thursday, March 7, 2024.
Lind is the Executive Secretary for the San Mateo County Labor Council which represents over 100 local union affiliates that support 85,000 members and their families. This year’s address is expected to highlight the historic achievements that House Democrats and President Biden have delivered and share an optimistic vision of putting People Over Politics to lower costs, grow the middle class, make all our communities safer, and defend our fundamental freedoms.
“Unions are the backbone of our country and essential to rebuilding America’s middle class. I invited Julie Lind to Washington, D.C. because she is a tireless defender of hard-working residents in my district,” said Rep. Mullin. “My dad was a civics teacher who was active in the California Teachers Association for 30 years and taught me the values of organized labor at a young age. I look forward to hearing President Biden deliver the State of the Union and outline our Democratic priorities for supporting America’s middle class.”
“Representative Mullin has been a long-time advocate for labor organizations and understands that unions have supported American workers through some of our nation’s most challenging and rewarding times,” Lind said. “I am honored to join Representative Mullin for this rare opportunity to visit our nation’s capitol to hear President Biden deliver the State of the Union Address.”
