The Advocates for Highway and Auto Safety (Advocates) hosted a 35th anniversary celebration to recognize policymakers who champion roadway safety and presented Rep. Kevin Mullin, CA-15 with a Highway Safety Hero award.
Rep. Mullin is an advocate for federal policy to improve roadway safety and led multiple initiatives during his first term in Congress, including his Driver Technology and Pedestrian Safety Act and his call for transportation regulators to improve data collection on the safety of autonomous vehicles.
“Safety on our roads is everyone’s responsibility, and Congress should take a leading role in helping us understand what we can do to protect our most vulnerable populations,” said Rep. Mullin. “I’m honored to collaborate with the Advocates for Highway Auto Safety and am humbled to accept a Highway Safety Hero award.”
The Advocates presented 2024 Highway Safety Hero awards in Washington, D.C. to members of Congress for their oversight of the directives in the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA, Pub. L. 117-58) and other safety efforts.
During the awards ceremony on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., the Advocates recognized Rep. Mullin along with other federal and state government leaders and citizen activists who have fought tirelessly to achieve safe vehicles, safe road users and safe roadway environments.
