Rep. Mullin issued the following statement in response to Trump’s actions in Venezuela and capturing of Maduro:

“Maduro was a brutal dictator who has terrorized the people of Venezuela for decades.  

But make no mistake: it’s against the law to launch a military strike on another country without involving Congress. And it’s ridiculous for Trump to pretend that this military action is about law enforcement and drugs. It reeks of corruption – he even tipped off the oil companies before notifying our nation’s elected leaders. And just two months ago, Trump pardoned the former Honduran president for funneling drugs into the U.S.  

I am continuing to support the war powers bill that would prevent the president from further illegal and unauthorized military action against Venezuela. Americans don’t want another foreign regime change war with no plan for how to protect the people of Venezuela from further chaos and violence.

Americans want our elected leaders to focus on the affordability crisis at home that’s affecting so many in this country.”
