Rep. Kevin Mullin issued the following statement:

“ICE’s killing of Renee Nicole Good, a 37-year-old Minneapolis mother of three, is nothing short of an avoidable tragedy that was caused by the Trump Administration’s intentionally inhumane and chaotic deployments to American cities. This is not the first time Secretary Kristi Noem and ICE agents across the country have acted with reckless negligence for human life and the truth. Noem has proven she is dangerously unfit for the dire responsibility of DHS Secretary and she should be impeached immediately.  

Her response to the tragic shooting in Minneapolis and disregard for the truth is deeply irresponsible, unacceptable and flat out cruel. The public deserves transparency and thorough investigations by federal and state officials. 

Noem has repeatedly acted as a mouthpiece for propaganda that fuels fear and division rather than facts. She is an incompetent leader whose ICE agents have wreaked havoc on peaceful communities across the country. Secretary Noem and the Trump Administration must be held fully accountable for this reckless failure of leadership and the violence they are perpetuating. These actions are putting civilians and officers in harm’s way. 

I join many of my colleagues in demanding that swift action is taken, all those involved are investigated and prosecuted to the full extent of the law, and that immediate changes are made to ensure transparency and protect our communities.”
