Rep. Mullin Reflects on Results of 2024 Presidential Election

Like many of my CA-15 constituents, I am deeply disappointed by the results of the Presidential election. I know many people are fearful of what President-elect Donald Trump will do when he returns to the White House. I share those anxieties and remain committed to upholding and defending our democracy, the rule of law, the Constitution, and my constituents’ interests with a focus on those most vulnerable.

America’s strength is in our democracy and a foundational system of checks and balances. I remain hopeful that House Democrats will be a force for the values we hold dear and can act as a necessary check on Trump and Republican extremism. That work starts today, and in 2026 we will have yet another election for control of the U.S. House of Representatives. The next four years won’t be easy, but we must stay strong and be determined to fight for the sake of future generations who must inherit a democratic republic.

While difficult to swallow, it is crucial in the wake of this bitterly fought election for us to unify to the extent possible as a country. Let us remember that as Americans, we have much more in common with our neighbors than what sets us apart. I am proud of the campaign that our fellow Californian Vice President Harris ran, and her democratic values are reflected in her concession speech in which she called for a peaceful transfer of power.

To everyone in my district, I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to continue serving as your U.S. Representative. Thank you for this honor.
