Trump Pardons Violent Insurrectionists from January 6th Attack
It’s unconscionable that one of his first actions as President was to pardon, commute prison sentences, or vow to dismiss the cases of the 1,500 insurrectionists who stormed our nation’s Capitol on Jan. 6. This includes the most extreme violent rioters who were armed with tasers, gas masks and baseball bats when they viciously assaulted police officers.
Those who attempted to overthrow American democracy will now be free and emboldened by President Trump. Violence is never the answer to any disagreement. For a President who ran on “law and order” to dismiss such brazen acts of political violence on his first day in office is a concerning declaration of intent for the new administration.
Trump Abandons Future Generations & Environment by Withdrawing from Paris Climate Accord
Trump’s executive order to withdraw the United States from the Paris Climate Accord makes it clear that he is willing to abandon the health and safety of current and future generations. Climate change is fueling extreme weather and natural disasters that are having deadly and costly consequences.
America should be a leader in advancing clean energy solutions to reduce greenhouse gas emissions while protecting our fragile environment, not prioritizing profit-driven polluters.
Trump Tries to Ignore Constitution by Denying Birthright Citizenship
You’d think this should go without saying, but the President doesn’t have the right to unilaterally amend the U.S. Constitution. Trump’s executive order to end birthright citizenship is a violation of the 14th Amendment and longstanding case law, and is just another one of his extremist tactics designed to sow fear and division.
