Job Opening: Scheduler/ Special Assistant 

Background:

Representative Kevin Mullin is hiring an experienced, organized, and proactive Scheduler/ Special Assistant to serve in a scheduling and operations role in his Washington, D.C. office.

The Scheduler/ Special Assistant will work closely with the Chief of Staff and District Director to coordinate the Member’s short-term and long-term official schedule in both DC and the district. The Scheduler will act as the Member’s liaison with other congressional offices, constituents, and stakeholders, including leaders and advocates from the public, private, and non-profit sectors.

Ideal candidates should demonstrate strong communication abilities, strict attention to detail, excellent discretion, stakeholder engagement skills, and the ability to juggle multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment. 

Key responsibilities include working with senior staff to manage the D.C. front office and maintain the Member’s daily and long-term schedule, organizing and evaluating all meeting requests with senior staff, proactively building the Member’s schedule around his priorities, compiling and managing the Member’s daily briefing materials, making travel arrangements, and other duties as assigned. Candidates must have the ability to prioritize and follow through on time-sensitive requests in a highly collegial and professional manner. 

Job duties:

  • Schedule meetings, events, and all other official activities for Rep. Mullin
  • Work with Rep. Mullin, the Chief of Staff, and District Director to finalize the daily schedule and briefing materials;
  • Brief Rep. Mullin on all scheduling activities of the Washington, D.C., and district offices;
  • Coordinate with the communication team and district office staff to schedule press conferences and interviews;
  • Coordinate all official travel arrangements for Rep. Mullin;
  • [Highly preferred but not required]: Drive Rep. Mullin to official events, meetings, and other engagements in D.C.;
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required qualifications:

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast- paced work environment;
  • Experience handling sensitive information and maintaining confidentiality;
  • Granular attention to detail and experience managing official records within an office;
  • Ability to adapt well to unexpected changes or setbacks;
  • A demonstrated interest in public service.

Ideal qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience;
  • Prior Capitol Hill and/or scheduling experience;
  • California or Bay Area ties;
  • Access to a vehicle, a valid driver’s license, and a clean driving record.
